2017 Nikon 100th Anniversary Special Exhibition “A Century of Memories — David Douglas Duncan”

Dates: July 4, 2017 (Tue) – September 30, 2017 (Sat)

Nikon Museum will hold an exhibition entitled “A Century of Memories — David Douglas Duncan” from July 4 to September 30, 2017 as the third 100th anniversary special exhibition.

Mr. Duncan is a distinguished American photojournalist who exemplified 20th century photography. He took photos during the Korean War using NIKKOR lenses, the superior quality of which led to NIKKOR lenses becoming famous around the world.

This exhibition features 24 photographs taken by Mr. Duncan, including some taken during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, as well as photos of artist Pablo Picasso. A movie will also be shown on a 100-inch screen of Mr. Duncan talking about his relationship with Nikon and how he first encountered NIKKOR lenses. In addition, in private viewing booths with small monitors and headphones specially set up for this exhibition, you can view historically valuable movies that include interviews with Mr. Duncan talking about the untold story of his friendship with Nikon and explaining the circumstances of some of the photos he took during wartime.

Exhibited photographs have been reprinted from scanned data stored at the Harry Ransom Center of the University of Texas in Austin.
